NAIA Championship Game Close to Announcing Title Sponsor, Co-Chairs Named for Ticket Committee
August 14, 2008 - NAIA Host Committee members learned this morning that a title sponsor for the game could be announced within a week. Co-chairs Bob Berry and Bill Peterson shared the news with the group during its August planning meeting.
“We do have a company that has delivered a term sheet to be the title sponsor of the game,” said Peterson. “This company is a perfect fit for the championship and will be a great partnership for us. Obviously, we’re not ready to release the name, but we expect to be able to make a public announcement quite soon.”
Berry added, “The NAIA has never had a title sponsor for its championship game. Our mission all along has been to elevate the status of the game, and we believe this is an important step toward that goal.”
Other signed sponsorship agreements are also expected to be announced soon, and the Sponsorship Committee is busy promoting similar opportunities to businesses and individuals. For additional information on sponsorship opportunities, visit www.naianationalchampionship.com/sponsorships.htm.
Also announced this morning was the addition of Shorter College business professors Gina McDaniel and Melissa Hickman to the host committee. They will chair the Ticket Subcommittee, focusing on the sale and promotion of game day tickets as well as tickets for the FCA Championship Breakfast featuring Coach Fisher DeBerry and the Banquet of Champions.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ 2008 and 2009 National Championship games were awarded to Shorter College and Rome-Floyd County earlier this year. The 2008 title game will be played at Barron Stadium in Rome on Dec. 20. For more information on plans for the game, visit www.naianationalchampionship.com.
